Desert Magnificence April 2013 - On a visit to southeast Utah, I couldn't help but notice this spectacular mountain named Wild Horse Butte in the San Rafael Swell region.
This is near Goblin Valley State Park and the trailhead to
Little Wild Horse Canyon and Bell Canyon. This page is my tribute to this Utah landmark.
I suppose you could call this the "back side" of Wild Horse Butte. :)
Figuring Out How To Reach The Summit
I've wondered if there's a reasonable way to hike/climb to the summit, and after some research and communicating with the Colorado/Utah climbing community,
there is no documentation of anyone reaching the top by foot. Apparently there is a marker at the top that was
placed by a helicopter, but that's it.
My friend Brian, a climber who's website is Brian In The Wild,
sent me this possible route. Funny. Yeah, he wants down! :)
I searched YouTube for ANYTHING about this butte. All I can find is this one guy hiking on a ridge.
