Wheeler Lake, Colorado - Four Wheel Drive AdventureThe photos below were taken by my friend Jeff, who drove his Jeep up the 4-wheel drive trail to Wheeler Lake in Park County. The only time I have seen Wheeler Lake was when I stood on the summit of Mt. Lincoln. -Steve Jeff's Wheeler Lake Trip Report - Below are some photos from our trip to Wheeler Lake with Josh Keffer. He took us up a trail that was a bit harder than anything we had been up before. The trail was great with 3 main obstacles: the Flopper, V-Notch and Bowling Ball Hill. They are all appropriately named. The white Land Rover was stuck in The Flopper. The red Rubicon is mine and the brown Rubicon is Josh's. You can see us tackling a couple of the obstacles, but I have no pictures from Bowling Ball Hill. I will describe it this way: Picture bowling ball size rocks that move as you drive over and larger rocks with water flowing down them that you must navigate around. The view from Wheeler Lake is amazing with the lake, waterfall and mountains. My pictures just don't do justice to the scenery. The photo in the bottom left is from the trip back down. The driver in the Toyota 4-Runner is coming back down the V-Notch and shows what happens if you don't have the exact right line. -Photos by Jeff Abel in Colorado Springs, Colorado on August 21, 2010.
