Agnes Vaille Falls
(A Visit To A Large Waterfall In Colorado's Sawatch Mountains - August 8, 2007)
Similar to yesterday, I had a gap in my day schedule and felt compelled to go
somewhere in the mountains. Agnes Vaille Falls,
located inside Chalk Creek Canyon, sounded like a good idea
and I was not disappointed with my visit.
How To Get There: From Nathrop, travel west on Chaffee County
Road 162 into the mountains. You'll pass the
Mt. Princeton Hot Springs on your
left. Keep going! The Agnes Vaille Falls Trailhead and parking area are a
few more miles ahead with a sign on the right.
(If you reach Cascade Falls or
where the pavement ends, you've gone too far!)
By the way, if you really love Colorado waterfalls, I'd like to
plug my web site dedicated to them:
www.Waterfall-Pictures.com. That
site is my excuse and motivation to visit waterfalls as the opportunities
arise in the mountains. ;)
Lastly, here are my picture collections within a close vicinity of the waterfall:
Hike Along Old Railroad Grade
Bike To St. Elmo
St. Elmo Ghost Town
Nathrop
Bike: Buena Vista - Nathrop Loop
Autumn Foliage
Thank you for visiting and enjoy the pictures below!
All the best,
-Steve :)

The trail to the waterfall is a short 0.5 miles. That peak
in the middle, by the way, is the south face of
Mt. Princeton. |

Three more photos from slightly different angles. |
A sign has some information about Agnes Vaille and her story. |
