Victor, Colorado
(An Adventure With Good Friends At 9,693 Feet In Altitude) - December 9, 2006
The Historic Town Of Victor, Colorado
 |
Yesterday I spent the much of the day in Victor, Colorado, a small
mining town in Teller County with an altitude of 9,693 feet. The top photo is the view from Room 301
at the Victor Hotel (see adjacent, bottom left photo), a building notoriously referred by locals as
a "haunted hotel" that is inhabited by ghosts.
Today, Victor has approximately 400 year-round
residents and has quite a feel of a ghost town.
Here are some of my ghost town pages:
St. Elmo, Vicksburg & Winfield, Bonanza
Independence,
Granite,
Hancock, Tincup |
Christmas Lights Around Town
 |
So out we went, seeking out Christmas light decorations in and around the town of Victor. These two residential homes were really nice! |
 |
Many of the "head frames" used for mining were decorated like this one. |
 |
This was the best decorated building we found on Victor Avenue in the downtown area. |
 |
Check out this lighted Santa outside of town! :) |
 |
We eventually arrived in Cripple Creek
and the Christmas lights were really nice. Be sure to visit that
entirely seperate page: Christmas Lights In Cripple Creek. |
American Eagle Overlook
 |
We also made it to the
American Eagle Overlook,
which during the day, offers amazing views of the
Sangre De Cristo Mountains, much
of southern Teller County and the Pikes Peak range.
It was freezing cold when we arrived up there,
but it was nice to see the lighted snowman on the largest "head frame" up there. |
 |
I snapped some assorted photos up there of Lars and
Scott (top left), Lisa ["Morgan Luver"] (top right),
Mike and Rich [with Kadi in the background] (bottom left)
and myself (bottom right).
Lots of good friends out last night. Rich is probably best known for his face on the Coffee
Nerds button that is seen from time to time on this web site. Here it is ...

Extra Photos Of Friends
 |
A few "no fit" pictures. We enjoyed pizza (left) at Sally's in Victor,
and I got a great shot of Lisa and Kadi on Bennett Avenue in Cripple Creek. |
 |
The entire gang at Sally's.
Special thanks to Joe in Goldfield whom we met during the adventure
but I foolishly didn't think to get a photo of. He was a lot of fun and his enthusiasm about his
experiences at Pueblo Community College were quite amusing! |
