Trail Through Time - Exit 2 on Interstate 70

Pretty Snow in the Desert ...

January 1, 2013 - My first hike of the new year was at the Trail Through Time, a 1.6 mile interpretive loop trail where dinosaur fossils were once found. This trail's dinosaur stuff reminded me of Dinosaur Hill (Fruita) and Riggs Hill (Grand Junction), but the trail is longer and located in the Rabbit Valley region.

All in all, I'd say this hike was a dud. The scenery is so-so and trails with geological markers are a "dime a dozen" in this region. You're better off hiking Rabbit's Ear Mesa or the trails across the Interstate in the McInnis Canyons region. Still, a hike is a hike and it's always good to spend time outdoors. Below are my photos of two recent visits.

Returning on the highway, I love the snowy road with Rabbit's Ear Mesa on the right.

In February, I returned to the Trail Through Time when there was less snow. Above is a nice photo at an overlook. I also made a video at this spot.
