Tattered Colorado Atlas Exposed And Ridiculed At Cafe
Friends Question Whether Atlas Reflects "Deeper Inner Turmoil" In Steve's Life - December 18, 2006
BUENA VISTA, COLORADO -- The Colorado road atlas of Steve "Colorado Guy" Garufi brings new meaning
to the words
tattered and ripped up!
This morning Steve's decimated Colorado Atlas & Gazetteer was noticed and criticized by locals at Bongo Billy's
cafe, with Steve receiving a flurry of "constructive feedback" from workers and patrons.
"Look at how beat-up your atlas is. What in the world did you do to it?" asked Sarah (adjacent photo),
a friend and avid snowboarder in this small mountain town.
"Steve, you are a therapist and so I hope you will take this to heart," said Maggie, an onlooker
and Buena Vista resident,
"If this is how you are taking care of your road atlas, then I wonder how you are taking care of
your life."
"It looks like you might have deep inner turmoil
if it is any kind of indication." she concluded.
The 104-page atlas was given to Steve as a gift over three years ago and has: 1) Two massive
coffee stains on the front and back respectively, 2) The first 80 pages having extensive "curled up" damage and 3)
Numerous pages in the center that are completely loose.
Much like other times this year where Steve's possessions have been exposed to the public,
such as his old sneakers,
his sunglasses purchased
at Wal-mart and his large "George Costanza" wallet, Steve
yet again endured a bombardment of ridicule which lead to
widespread embarrassment.
"So do you use that for finding destinations or as a fiber-filled snack?" stated ~A~, a friend in Montana,
"It's amazing you find your way anywhere!"
Steve maintained he has "gained a lot of mileage" out of his road atlas, and attributed many
of his scenic pictorials this summer to his use of the atlas.
"I pretty much explored every nook and cranny on each side of
Cottonwood Pass thanks to this map." contended Steve.
Still, the criticism continued. "From what your atlas looks like, I think
I would hate to say what your apartment looks like." stated Michelle in Denver,
"Sometimes I just don't understand the things you do."
