Procrastination Obliterated With Christmas Put Up In Late May!
Steve's Accused of "Shameless Advertising" On Tree; Norwegians Offended - May 30, 2006
BUENA VISTA, COLORADO -- Procrastination has bit the dust for another year!
Steve "ColoradoGuy" Garufi impressively
put up and decorated his
Christmas tree yesterday and is spreading early Christmas cheer throughout his web site. There are
only 208 days remaining before the well-celebrated, disturbingly commercialized, religious holiday of Christmas arrives.
To decorate the tree, Steve placed a slew of ColoradoGuy bumper stickers in the branches.
The tree is perched on three winter tires stored in a barren corner of his apartment.
There is no star at the top.
Shameless Advertising or Sincere Spiritual Devotion?
As usual, the criticism came harshly and swiftly to the so-called "Internet personality."
"You play pac man on your computer for hours per day and you just put up your Christmas tree? Steve,
there is something wrong with this picture, don't ya think?" asked Kansas Kelly, in a phone conversation.
Vivian, a regular visitor of this web site in Malaysia, questioned the choice of bumper stickers as a decoration.
"It's shameless advertising." she wrote, "It's plastic I hope because otherwise it won't survive and
you will be labeled a tree killer."
With the idea of putting up his Christmas tree so early not working well with the public,
Steve (adjacent photo) held a press conference:
"You guys don't get it.
I procrastinate like you wouldn't believe.
This is an accomplishment of huge proportions to get this done. Why can't you just be happy for me?"
"And yeah, this is about Jesus coming into the world. You mean I can't celebrate this in May? Give me a break!"
"I simply want to know if you will be plastering photos of your ugly tree on your
web site for months and months. I sure hope not." said Marcy Bergman in Colorado Springs.
Norwegians Offended Over Christmas Tree Display
As news traveled across the Atlantic Ocean in Norway,
another twist was added to the Christmas tree controversy.
"Steve - a Christmas tree. Are you celebrating Christ's birth
the week after Europe celebrated his ascension???" asked "Bloom," a regular visitor.
"You should at least put a star on it!" added Tonje in Norway, "The star is to remind us of Christ's birth
and you're putting ads on it? Sheeeesh!"
In 2004, Steve sent out his Christmas cards in the month of June,
and included a preface on the inside of the card that assured recipients
that he was not under the influence of illegal or mind-altering substances.
Steve has also enjoyed photographing Christmas lights during the winter
and has the following pages: 2004 Colorado Springs Christmas Lights,
2003 Christmas Lights,
Brooklyn Christmas Lights 2001 and
a Christmas Cactus in Buena Vista (2005).
