Saguaro National Park East - Mid-Afternoon (January 9, 2006)
The next day, I returned at about 2 p.m. to the Broadway Trailhead at Saguaro National East. |
Those are the Santa Catalina Mountains in the background, which border the city of Tucson to the north. |
Ooooooooh! A golden barrel cactus! :) |
Various saguaro photos.
This is Arizona at its best baby! :)
I was quite giddy out there. I included myself with a large prickly pear and an odd-shaped saguaro in the adjacent photo. :p)
Prickly pear cacti pretty much grow like weed out here in southern Arizona! ;) |
That small tree that's shaped like a lamp shade is a cholla. There are many variations of this cactus, and the "walking stick cactus" is related to it. And take a look at that big ol' golden barrel! |
A closer view of a saguaro's outer skin and thorns. |
It was a beautiful and sunny Arizona day in the 70's. :) |
Two photos of the same saguaro. This one was situated right along the trail. I've resolved to obtain
a tripod in the near future, for I've found partaking in Arizona desert photography sometimes requires it.
I can't just lay my digital camera on a large rock like I usually do in Colorado! ;) |
