Opal Hill In Fruita, Colorado

An enjoyable hike in Fruita ...
Opal Hill (4,768 feet) is southwest of Fruita and across from the Devils Canyon Trailhead on Kingsview Road. The hike to the summit is a mere 500 foot gain and can be accessed from three spots on Kingsview Road. A trail loops around Opal Hill, totaling 2.8 miles, with a spur trail on the west side that ascends to the top.

Opal Hill, CO

Devils Canyon Trailhead

In many ways, this is a simple hike. This would be ideal for someone wanting to walk their dog, get some exercise after work or spend time outdoors.

On today's hike (November 8, 2012), it was yet another beautiful sunny day in western Colorado.

Adjacent are three photos at the summit.

TOP: Facing Fruita and Grand Junction. My car is on the right in the arched parking lot.

SECOND: The beautiful view toward Devils Canyon (far right) and the trailhead.

THIRD: On the west is another trailhead for Opal Hill. Also, Rabbit's Ear Mesa can be seen in the distance on the right.

I invite you to visit my photo journal about Fruita:

Steve Garufi A self-portrait. Yep, I wore my sandals and black socks like I did on the Serpents Trail, and I'm so stinkin' proud of my Razorbacks attire! :)
