The Maroon Bells
(Elana And Steve Visit The Maroon Bells, Aspen and Independence Pass) - October 14, 2007

The Maroon Bells
The Maroon Bells outside of Aspen. Nice! |
 |
The one and only Elana, a popular musician among
the Denver music scene,
was in town and she wanted to see the Maroon Bells. Elana was so happy to be there
as seen in all of the smiling pictures of her on this page.
To arrive at the main viewing area, head just west of Aspen at take Maroon Creek Road at the main roundabout.
It was really pretty there!
Maroon Peak sits at 14,156 feet. Here are this year's 14er pages:
Mt. Sneffels
Mt. Antero
Mt. Belford
Mt. Yale
Quandary Peak
Mt. Sherman |
 |
The Maroon Bells are not to be taken lightly by climbers. This sign says it all!
My buddy Jason (who hiked Mt. Yale in 2006 with me) summited the Maroon Bells this summer.
Click here to see one photo of them during their ascent. |

Aspen, Going Back To Twin Lakes
We ate at a pizza place in Aspen. Elana looked real cute with her calzone and I really enjoyed my pizza.
Do check out my eating photos from the
2007 Colorado Guy Festival! ;) |

Kudos to this happy and friendly John Denver
look alike in Aspen in front of colorful foliage. |
 |
As we returned past Independence Pass, it began to snow all the way to Twin Lakes!
The bottom photo shows some of the snow coming down. Also, as of this typing (the next morning,
Sunday, 10:55 a.m. in Buena Vista), it has been
snowing hard all morning. Yay! |
 |
Last but not least, Elana wanted me to take her to a particular
spot that I've had some success with. Unfortunately, you can't really see the snow
coming down in the top left photo, but the other two photos are:
