The Maroon Bells outside of Aspen. Nice!

Maroon Bells
The one and only Elana, a popular musician among the Denver music scene, was in town and she wanted to see the Maroon Bells. Elana was so happy to be there as seen in all of the smiling pictures of her on this page.

To arrive at the main viewing area, head just west of Aspen at take Maroon Creek Road at the main roundabout.

It was really pretty there!

Maroon Peak sits at 14,156 feet. Here are this year's 14er pages:

  • Mt. Sneffels
  • Mt. Antero
  • Mt. Belford
  • Mt. Yale
  • Quandary Peak
  • Mt. Sherman
  • Maroon Bells The Maroon Bells are not to be taken lightly by climbers. This sign says it all!

My buddy Jason (who hiked Mt. Yale in 2006 with me) summited the Maroon Bells this summer. Click here to see one photo of them during their ascent.

    Aspens Lost Camera
Extra Photos Around The Maroon Bells Area

Elana and I wandered about some aspen groves and at one point, Elana accidently dropped her camera along the trail. It took us a few minutes to find it; She was so happy when she spotted it (right photo).

    Independence Pass
Independence Pass, Along The Way There

We made the obligatory stop at Independence Pass early in the morning.

Independence Pass Area This morning was the last morning that Independence Pass was not completely covered in snow for the winter season. I can't wait to go snowshoeing up there again! :)
Elana and Steve Elana enjoyed grabbing my long, naturally curly hair! :)
Aspens Colorado Highway 82 We pulled over frequently on Highway 82 between Independence Pass and Aspen. There is still some autumn foliage happening in that area.
Colorado Aspens A pretty aspen grove.

Here are this year's autumn pages:

  • Twin Lakes Area
  • Cottonwood Lake
  • Vicksburg and Winfield
  • Phantom Canyon Road
  • Cottonwood Pass Road
  • West of Nathrop, CO
  • Around St. Elmo
  • Elana Rogers Steve Dancing Elana is a professional musician and leader of a band and she played some of her songs at a park in Aspen. Pedestrians stopped to listen to her great music and I couldn't help but dance right there! Woo-hoo! :)
Colorado Aspens In and around Aspen, there were mainly scenes like this: Hillsides of reddish and rusty shades with bright yellow aspens.

    Elana Eating
Aspen, Going Back To Twin Lakes

We ate at a pizza place in Aspen. Elana looked real cute with her calzone and I really enjoyed my pizza. Do check out my eating photos from the 2007 Colorado Guy Festival! ;)

John Denver Look Alike Kudos to this happy and friendly John Denver look alike in Aspen in front of colorful foliage.

As we returned past Independence Pass, it began to snow all the way to Twin Lakes! The bottom photo shows some of the snow coming down. Also, as of this typing (the next morning, Sunday, 10:55 a.m. in Buena Vista), it has been snowing hard all morning. Yay!
    Twin Lakes, Colorado
Last but not least, Elana wanted me to take her to a particular spot that I've had some success with. Unfortunately, you can't really see the snow coming down in the top left photo, but the other two photos are:
