Guanella Pass - Mountain Scenery Between Georgetown, CO and Grant, CO
Guanella Pass (alt. 11,669') is located in southwest Clear Creek County between
the towns of Georgetown and Grant.
This spot offers beautiful views of mountains in all directions,
and offers access to many nearby trails including the popular hike to Mt. Bierstadt, the Sawtooth and
Mt. Evans.
My friend Jeff Christlieb and I met in Bailey for breakfast and afterward,
we enjoyed this scenic drive. On this page are my eight best photos from our visit to Guanella Pass.

Facing northwest toward Otter Mountain (12,766'). |
Facing west. The sky was overcast, which made it difficult to capture good shots.
|
The grand view of the Sawtooth and 14er Mt. Bierstadt. |
Looking at Grey Wolf Mountain (13,602'). I intend to climb this ranked 13er at some point.
My other hikes and pages in the area: Mt. Evans Scenic Byway,
Mt. Evans Via Guanella Pass,
Grays Peak and Torreys Peak and
Mt. Sniktau. |
We traveled north from the pass. The road
conditons are generally okay for any kind of vehicle. However,
there are some washboard sections on the Grant side that require care.
Currently the road is closed north of Guanella Pass due to a nasty rock slide.
Thus, we didn't make it to Georgetown. |
Duck Lake. Photo taken from the road. |
The hero of the morning was Brodee, Jeff's cute dog who sat on my lap during our drive.
I captured this nifty shot of him through the passenger side window. :)
