|A scenic and remote valley in Western Colorado ...
February 2013 - Today I visited Gateway, Colorado, a small town in southwest Mesa County that's four miles east of the Utah state line.
The drive on State Highway 141 is scenic and mountainous, and with a world-renowed auto museum in Gateway, I had my reason for a day trip.
For those who are classic car lovers and collectors, I do recommend the Gateway Auto Museum.
The museum has about 100 excellent old cars in its collection, and all of my photos can be seen here.
Tall red rock cliffs stand dramatically over Gateway, Colorado.

Only a few hundred people live in Gateway and the surrounding area on a year-round basis.
There are hardly any services, other than an unattended gas station that takes plastic and what the Gateway Canyon Resorts offers with a restaurant,
lodging and the auto museum.

From what I've heard, the scenic drive south of Gateway toward Naturita is very scenic. The red rock scenery is comparable to the stunning
canyon drive from Cisco, Utah to Moab, Utah. I didn't have time to do that drive
(I only traveled from Whitewater, CO to Gateway, CO), but
I'll surely update this page when I explore that section.

I don't want to reduce Gateway to only one attraction, but truly, if you have a love of
old cars, classic cars, muscle cars, etc., then
a visit to this place is in order.
Adjacent are three photos of the museum. My seperate page dedicated to all of the photos I took on my visit is here:

In my opinion, the best cars in the collection:

I really must return on a sunnier day and do the entire drive to Naturita. Someday soon! :)
