Ben has been a regular visitor of this web site since January 2002 and was elected Hair Consultant in April 2005 when he defeated, ironically, Florida Pete. He served under the policy of a "Do Nothing Hair Consultant," who insisted from the beginning that Steve himself should do the hard work of taking care of his hair and quit relying on experts. Ben crafted a very unique campaign platform: He'd do nothing like past Hair Consultants, but at least he would be honest about it. Ben is remembered and recognized as the first Hair Consultant ever to serve for an entire year without being fired or acting like a drama queen.

Phil The Lurker Slammed For Narcissism and Negativity

In his endorsement letter, Ben had very critical words about the character and campaign tactics of Phil The Lurker.

"Phil 'lurks' until the time is right and is using this election to try to promote his own vanity. Phil proclaims he has great hair? Talk about narcissism." wrote Ben, "Moreover, Phil distorts the facts and uses negativity at every turn."

"There are a plethora of negative remarks (by Phil), but I find this one to be most insulting:

"Gore is a JOKE ... much like your HC's have been, Steve." (wrote Phil on the Politics Forum)

"I was a joke?! I fulfilled my campaign promises; There is no joke in that! How insulting."

There are two candidates (Florida Pete and Phil The Lurker) who are candidates in the annual mid-April election that determines who will serve as Hair Consultant - the chief encourager and "go to person" for Steve "Colorado Guy" Garufi in his effort to grown his naturally curly hair really long.
