Biking in Chalk Creek Canyon - Nathrop, Colorado

Chaffee County is a road biking haven ...
May 2, 2014 - Today I biked into Chalk Creek Canyon, a scenic mountain area near Nathrop, Colorado. I began in the village of Nathrop, where Highway 285 goes through town, and biked eleven miles on Chaffee County Road 162. Personally, I turned back where the pavement ended (~0.5 miles past Cascade Falls), but the most ambitious could ride all the way to St. Elmo. Whatever the case, I hope you enjoy my photos and videos of my outing.

Not long after leaving Nathrop, I snapped this picture of my bike with Mount Princeton afar.

Beautiful Mount Princeton as I proceeded west.

Mount Yale, Colorado A nice view of Mount Yale, too.

I didn't take many photos once I entered the canyon, and instead focused on making videos.

My next decent picture (top) was when I had gotten past Cascade Falls. Also included is a rocky mountain scene (second) at the spot where I turned back.

In the Arkansas River Valley and traveling west.

Biking past the Mount Princeton Hot Springs.

The Chalk Cliffs and Deer Valley Ranch.

Mountains and the Agnes Vaille Falls trailhead.

Oh what a steep climb that was! :) Cascade Falls at 4:00.
