|A Morning in the Mosquito Range
July 15, 2014 - Chelsea and her kids, Faith and Lukas, are vacationing in Colorado. The original plan was
to hike Mount Sherman starting around 6:15 a.m.,
with 12-month-old, 20-pound Lukas on Mom's back and Faith (age 8) daring to believe she could gain the summit.
When a furious rainstorm with thunder and lightning pounded the mountains at 3:15 a.m.
-- Chelsea and kids camping at Turquoise Lake and me startled in my bed in
Buena Vista --
we agreed to postpone our climb. Instead we made a leisure visit to the Mount Sherman Trailhead at a more decent hour, wandering at
the end of Four Mile Road which is on the Fairplay
/ Park County side. We hope to do a 14er another time. On this page are some photos and videos
from our visit.
It felt like all hope was gone, but then we found this large patch of snow!
