Chelsea and Kids Visit Colorado

A Morning in the Mosquito Range
July 15, 2014 - Chelsea and her kids, Faith and Lukas, are vacationing in Colorado. The original plan was to hike Mount Sherman starting around 6:15 a.m., with 12-month-old, 20-pound Lukas on Mom's back and Faith (age 8) daring to believe she could gain the summit.

When a furious rainstorm with thunder and lightning pounded the mountains at 3:15 a.m. -- Chelsea and kids camping at Turquoise Lake and me startled in my bed in Buena Vista -- we agreed to postpone our climb. Instead we made a leisure visit to the Mount Sherman Trailhead at a more decent hour, wandering at the end of Four Mile Road which is on the Fairplay / Park County side. We hope to do a 14er another time. On this page are some photos and videos from our visit.

It felt like all hope was gone, but then we found this large patch of snow!

Purple Flowers

The wildflowers above timberline are near their peak. This purple flower was so pretty.
