Big Spring State Park (Elevation 2789') - Big Spring, Texas

A nice place for cycling ...
Big Spring State Park is a bluff with 250 feet in prominence on the southwest side of Big Springs, Texas. For those seeking something different from the flat and windy plains of west Texas, this is certainly an oasis. While the overlooks are probably the biggest attraction, there is also a nature trail, grilling pits, picnic areas, a playground and more. Today I rode my bicycle throughout the park. It was nothing wild compared to Colorado cycling standards, but the climb and relaxed park atmosphere made it very enjoyable.

The road travels clockwise on the bluff. Slowly I climbed.

The last time I rode my bike in Texas, it was 2011 when I was riding across the country.

    Three photos of the scenery.

If you're traveling between El Paso and Fort Worth, Big Spring might be a good middle point to rest.

    Biking to the overlook.

    Not too shabby!

Earlier in the day, I biked in Ackerly, Texas.

At a traffic light in Seminole. :)
