April 21, 2014 - I've lived in Colorado for 17 years (most of my adult life) and I've met, made friends and "rubbed shoulders" with many neat people.
Above are two of them, Alex and Chase Gulla. The year was 1998, and I was renting
a room from my friend Brad who lived on the southwest side of Colorado Springs.
Brad's sons, Alex (right) and Chase (left) would live some of the time with their Dad, and I have fond memories of those boys.
I was a crazy guy in my 20s and recall having so much fun and laughter those kids --
just silly fooling around and such. Then, over the years, I lost touch with Brad and his boys and moved to
Well, recently I learned that Alex is no longer with us. He died two months ago at the age of 26. When I heard the news,
I was stunned and started bawling in disbelief.
I extend my deepest condolences to Brad, Chase and everyone in the Gulla family. Know that I mourn with you, and
Alex will always be in my heart.
Back in the late 1990s, I didn't take as many pictures as I do now, but I'm so thankful
that I have this one image of Chase (left) and Alex (right). I
think they recently had gotten a new dog -- there's a black furry animal between them. What a great photo. :)
All the best, Steve
