Alabama High Point - Cheaha Mountain

Cheaha Mountain, Elevation 2,407 Feet
Cheaha Mountain, sometimes referred to as "Mount Cheaha," is in the Talledega Mountain Range in northeast Alabama. at Cheaha State Park. The park offers cabin rentals, campgrounds, picnic areas, a lake for swimming and fishing, mountain bike trails and more. If you love hills and mountians, you won't be disappointed with the scenery here. The other U.S. state high points I've visited in the South: Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas.

Talledega Scenic Byway, AL
May 17, 2013 - My first photo was taken as I traveled east on Interstate 20. I was en route from Jonesboro, Arkansas to Stockbridge, Georgia.

Talledega Scenic Byway, Alabama
You'll need to drive on Alabama Highway 281 to get there, which is also known as the Talledega Scenic Byway.
Cheaha Mountain, Alabama
For better or worse, no hiking is required to reach the summit of Cheaha Mountain.
Observation Tower
There is an observation tower on the summit. Definitely climb the stairs to the top and enjoy the views.

It was cloudy during my visit, but I'd imagine this view would be even better on a sunny day.
Mt. Cheaha, Alabama
Beautiful mountain scenery with a cell tower on the right.

I get so dramatic sometimes.
